In 2020, the world was devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the lockdown, people were quarantined at home, leading to a series of mental health problems. This project has shown the American's mental health situation during the Covid-19 pandemic through data visualization. I want to use graphics and color layout to record Americans' mental health changes through this pandemic and how social issues like gender, race, income and employment status have influenced the changes.
The media I chose to present the data is an album cover. This concept was inspired by music artist Marconi Union's song: "Weightless," which was created in collaboration with sound therapists who
carefully arranged the harmonies and rhythms to help slow the listener's heart rate and eventually drop their anxiety level. My goal for this project started from visualizing the data to encourage people to have a positive attitude to face mental health challenges.
